ARC Analysis Summary of Case Files
by Richard Oliver ini have been doing research on the arc as some people on here have suggested.
i find it interesting on the case file analysis some of the findings.
it looks like queensland and new south wales had the biggest problems with this.

Occupations that will disappear
by joker inwhile growing up in the cult one thing that always bothered me was the way witnesses could forecast jobs/occupations that we're going to vanish in their new world.. for example, we would usually discuss at saturday night wt studies how doctors, nurses, funeral directors, and soldiers would go the way of the dodo.
i always found discussions like that just so strange.. in hs, i mounted an unsuccessful effort to enter veterinary sciences, the big answer was always "why" it won't be needed after armageddon 😝😜.
does anyone have their own story about professions that the witnesses believe will not be needed after the big a ?.

What about the occupations that will get a boost in the new world? I mean, those jobs you guys have mentioned aren't coming back. But they will be replaced with new, tremendous jobs. So many jobs.
Clothing re-purposing - From that closing regional convention video I assume that all former medical scrub clothing will be made into appropriate attire.
Teeth Whiteners - If our teeth are perfect and will lat forever, can you imagine how yellow they will be after a thousand years of eating fruit? I figure I can start this one about 250 years in. After I am done with....
Body disposal - Even after the birds pick off all the flesh from the billions of dead people, what about all of those bones? What about the ones that rot before the birds get to them. Sure god can miraculously make the birds never loose their appetite, but people rot pretty fast. So this is a tiered job with lots of layers, but it can keep a lot of people busy.
Bird killer - I figure those birds are going to become unusually strong from all of the protein they have consumed, and we will probably be unusually weak from lack of it (will we be allowed to eat Spam after the big A?.......no). So we will have to learn how to sling rocks David style at birds with a taste for human flesh trying to pick off the little ones. This is a skill position.

Young People Ask... When Can I Start Dating?
by pale.emperor inquite possibly the most annoying and patronizing thing i've read in years.
comments of mine are in yellow.. .
she doesn't trust herself to make her own decisions and she's going to wait years even after she thinks she's ready.

"The bloom of youth" is always funny to me. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone south of 30 get married honestly. But this caveat has JW's barely out of puberty, ready to jump on the marriage train at 20. Crazy.
Lets be honest here......as a man in JW land, getting a woman is like shooting fish in a barrel.
This article is painful to read. Its written for a level of comprehension that does not exist in normal society.

Steve nailed it. JW's have been behind on this issue. Not exactly "sole channel" material.

Richard I like others are confused about your point exactly. Do you feel it is somehow less terrible when you look at the breakdown the WT society gave the ARC? Do you feel considering their past that those numbers are given in the spirit of transparency and integrity?
The issue isn't the numbers. Its never been the numbers. This is a societal problem, and we don't expect ANY religion of community to be immune. the issue is that the branches worldwide have avoided telling their communities, and specifically law enforcement for their communities, because in their mind it would make them look bad. If they simply called the police, reported it, and took steps to protect those whom are always the most vulnerable members of our society, we wouldn't be able to say anything.
Nobody thinks its the GB's fault that there is some sick elder, servant, publisher, or whatever who wants to touch kids. It IS however their fault for somehow thinking the privacy of this matter outweighs their responsibility to be good members of their community, and protectors of children in their midst. Their record on this is clear, and no matter how you break up the numbers in australia, the only one that matters is ZERO.
Zero is the amount of times they reported abuse.

Rank & File Reaction to Leah Remini Series
by freemindfade inwife and i have watched the whole series and just finished episode 7 last night.
personally, i am seeing a great deal more subtle and day to day similarities to watchtower than the obvious ones i already knew existed, ie shunning.
very eye opening and heartbreaking, even more so than going clear in my mind.

The book Going Clear (on which the documentary is based) is fantastic for understanding the history of Scientology. I would most certainly say it is more loopy than JW's, but on a long enough scale, you really wouldn't be able to tell how far apart the two are.
Arguing over who is worse makes no sense. People lose family, opportunity, and dignity in spades in both scenarios.
I have enjoyed watching some of it, although i find it a bit repetitive. How many times can we see cars and private investigators following you. We get it. They are litigious.

The spirit that guides JW org
by anointed1 inwe can draw a parallel: the democrats lost the us presidential election, and they started blaming everyone else (including foreign powers) except themselves.
they forgot the reason for their own victory before—it was the direct and proportionate result of the poor performance of the then ruling party.
and now after 8 years of mess, people voted for a change.

You seem as delutional as one that actually believes themselves to be annointed. Your entire premis starts with a fallicy.
So what parallel are you trying to draw here? It is entirely unclear.

If the WT is a "money making machine"...who gets the money?
by NikL ini've seen claims over the years that wt is in the real estate, book publishing business and is a for profit enterprise at it's core.. can those of you that believe this to be the case tell me who benefits from all this wealth?.
the governing body lives in relatively humble conditions no?.
i've been curious about this for a while.

Nik,
There may not be a smoking gun here. There is probably not a mansion in the Hamptons, or a bently garage under Warwick. I think besides kind of having every need met all the time and being treated like Gods while flown around the world.....the GB live a fairly simple existance in a nice apt in a building the fund they manage built.
They do however, hoarde large sums of cash. Its notable what the money is NOT spent on as well. Orphan cows research is some of the best on this board, and you will see when monwy is changing hands there always seems to be a winner. Its not perhaps as nepharious as the millionaire megachurch set......bit its not exactly squeaky clean either.

Real Estate Business?
by no-zombie ini was going over some of the older posts of others and without starting some kind of flame war, i got no idea why people are saying that the society is some kind of real estate business.
of course its making millions of dollars in its real estate sales but this a one time event.
its down sizing by selling the furniture.

NZ,
I am one that generally shares the viewpoint that when being critical of JWs we arent held to the same standard as any other human being in their way of communicating. If even just one word in our statement seems off, a JW is going to latch on to that, and use it to discredit everything else that was said.
So now lets discuss the semantics. WT is in the business of false hope and religion at the cost of normal social constructs and freedom of thought. They also happen to ENGAGE in business in real estate.
To put this in context, they just netted close to a billion tax free dollars from the sell off in new york, and who knows how much from other smaller consolidations (with more to come). I happened to meet with a large real estate fund manager who ran a company doing consulting and building on anything from high rises, apts, and hotels, to single family homes. His fund was about 100 million, including gobbling up some smaller companies along the way.
WT has completed some of the largest real estate transactions seen over the last few years. Their assets are quite extensive. That puts them in the real estate business. Maybe it is just a,side hustle.......but its definitly real.
